Overview of Gene Research
MELTF, also known as melanotransferrin, MFI2, or CD228, is a gene with diverse functions. It is involved in processes like endometrial regeneration, where it may regulate ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy [3]. In cancer, it has been implicated in the progression of lung adenocarcinoma, potentially via the Notch signaling pathway [2]. Additionally, its expression is associated with various cancers, suggesting its role in tumor-related biological processes [4,6].
In osteosarcoma, the lncRNA MELTF-AS1, which may be related to MELTF, acts as a pro-metastasis gene by upregulating MMP14 [1]. In non-small cell lung cancer, MELTF-AS1 also promotes tumorigenesis by driving phase separation of YBX1 to activate ANXA8 [5]. In lung adenocarcinoma, E2F1 activates MELTF to promote cancer progression through the Notch signaling pathway [2].
In conclusion, MELTF plays important roles in endometrial regeneration and cancer progression, especially in lung adenocarcinoma and osteosarcoma. Research on MELTF and its related lncRNAs, like MELTF-AS1, provides insights into the biological mechanisms of these processes, which may help in developing new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for related diseases.
