Overview of Gene Research
Hipk3, known as homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 3, is involved in multiple biological processes and disease-related pathways. It has been implicated in regulating cell proliferation, metastasis, and drug sensitivity, and is relevant to pathways such as mTOR and Wnt [1].
In gastric cancer, knockdown of Hipk3 in in vitro and in vivo experiments enhanced tumor proliferation and metastasis, while upregulation had the opposite effect. This indicates Hipk3's role in maintaining sensitivity to platinum drugs and preventing disease progression [1]. In colorectal cancer, exosomal hsa-miR-101-3p inhibits Hipk3, and overexpression of Hipk3 in HCT116 and SW480 cells retarded cell growth and migration, and increased sensitivity to 5-FU, along with metabolic reprogramming [2]. In cardiomyocytes, miR-21 attenuates FAS-mediated apoptosis by regulating Hipk3 expression [3].
In conclusion, Hipk3 plays crucial roles in cancer progression, drug sensitivity, and cell apoptosis. Model-based research, especially in in vitro and in vivo experiments in cancer and cardiomyocyte studies, has revealed its significance in these disease areas, providing insights into potential therapeutic strategies.
