Overview of Gene Research
Tpgs1, also known as Tubulin polyglutamylase complex1, helps in microtubule polymerization. It is involved in multiple biological processes such as glucose transport, cellular movement, organization of intracellular structure, and intracellular transport [2]. It may also be associated with pathways related to the immune synapse formation, TCR signaling, and Wnt signaling [1,3].
In a study on narcolepsy type I, Tpgs1 was identified as one of the NT1-specific differentially expressed genes in CD4 T-cell subsets, which may play a role in the immune synapse formation and TCR signaling [1]. In a case study of an elderly individual with polymicrogyria, rare pathological/deleterious variants of Tpgs1 were found among genes involved in the regulation of Wnt signaling, potentially highlighting its contribution to this condition [3].
In conclusion, Tpgs1 has diverse functions in microtubule-related processes and seems to be associated with diseases like narcolepsy type I and polymicrogyria. These findings from relevant studies help in understanding the role of Tpgs1 in specific biological processes and disease conditions, providing insights into the underlying molecular mechanisms.
